SUMMARY:Spring Burn Survivor Family Weekend
DESCRIPTION:The GFBF recognizes the roots of trauma from a burn injury\, whether an adult or child\, reach far beneath the surface of the individual experiencing the physical injury. This weekend provides a unique opportunity for families to connect with others who share common experiences associated with burn trauma (both burn injured and non-burn injured) and acknowledges the voice of those who may not have experienced the physical burn injury but are closely connected to the trauma. \n\n\n\nWe welcome attendees of all ages and leave the definition of family up to you! The only expectation is that someone attending the program sustained a burn injury\, but this individual can bring family of their own choosing\, young and old. Please note: at least one legal parent/guardian must be present throughout the entire weekend if minors are present\, and they also assume full responsibility for supervising them at all times.

SUMMARY:Cartersville 9/11 Run to Remember 5K
DESCRIPTION:Please plan to join us for the 3rd. Annual running of the “9/11 Run to Remember 5K” held in remembrance of the 22nd. Anniversary of the events and tragedy of 9/11.  Held Saturday morning\, September 9th\, 2023 in Downtown Cartersville\, GA the “9/11 Run to Remember” 5K represents a celebration of the herculean efforts of all of the first responders from that unforgettable day 22 years ago.  Produced in conjunction with the Cartersville Fire Department\, The Cartersville Police Department\, and Metro Atlanta EMS\, plan to come out and join us for a unique race in celebration of the lives of those that gave so much and enjoy the pre-race presentation of the colors by the Cartersville Fire Department Honor Guard in honor and memory of the events from that fateful morning.  Proceeds from the race go to benefit the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation ( https://www.gfbf.org ) and Next Rung (https:www.nextrung.org ) \n\n\n\nThis is a race route NW GA Runners have come to love!  As the turnaround destination of the 5K route is the Cartersville Fire Department Station #1 where runners pass THROUGH a Fire Truck bay in Station #1 where they will be greeted by cheering Firefighters and other First Responders while grabbing water for the return trip to the finish line!

SUMMARY:Summer Camp Oo-U-La
DESCRIPTION:Camp offers burn-injured children and their siblings opportunities to grow together in their recovery—both physical and emotional—and in their relationship with one another\, all while experiencing the fun\, friendships\, and freedom that you can only find at camp! \n\n\n\nCampers can bond and reconnect with siblings and friends while gliding down the swirling waterslide\, fishing or paddling in the lakes\, trying their hands at the pottery wheel or archery\, roasting marshmallows\, and so much more. Campers also have opportunities to connect with a support group of peers who have similar stories and similar scars—both seen and unseen—to learn ways to process\, talk about\, and cope with their challenges and feelings. \n\n\n\nThough it may be easy to forget about what brings them to camp while having all this fun\, campers truly have “fun with a purpose\,” as we acknowledge\, validate\, and honor the experiences of children affected—directly and indirectly—by traumatic burn injuries.
